The Alton School District and the art therapy team welcome the 2021-2022 SIUE art therapy interns Kirsten O'Loughlin and Nathan Smith. We really appreciate their professional efforts and positive energy they bring to our team and the students.

Kirsten O'Loughlin
Hello!
My name is Ms. O’Loughlin, I am a second year art therapy student at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and the art therapy intern at Mark Twain for the 2021-2022 school year. I have a bachelor’s degree in fine art from the University of Maryland. I am a registered yoga instructor, swimming fanatic, and design nerd. I fall in love with art therapy more and more every semester, and am so excited to be at Mark Twain with Ms. D’Amore.

Nathan Smith
Hello everyone,
My name is Nathan Smith, and I am a second-year Art Therapy Counseling student at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. I am originally from northern Illinois, but lived in Wisconsin and Wyoming before moving to Edwardsville.
During the 2021-2022 school year, I will be at the High School on Monday mornings and spend time at the Middle school on Monday and Wednesdays, under Mr. Schwartz’ supervision. My time at Alton connecting with students has been extremely fulfilling and I’m looking forward to the rest of the school year working with students and providing support.
